Research project “FastCharge”: ultra-fast charging technology ready for the electrically powered vehicles of the future

What do you get if you put BMW ,Allego GmbH, Phoenix Contact E-Mobility GmbH, Dr. Ing. h. c. F. Porsche AG and Siemens AG. in a room together….correct, a lot of German talking about “FastCharge”

This gang have been given almost eight million euros funding and are busy developing technology to make charging electric vehicles as fast and convenient as fuelling with petrol.

They have recently launched a charging station in Bavaria with a capacity of up to 450KW.

At this ultra-fast charging station, electrically powered research vehicles created as part of the project are able to demonstrate charging times of less than three minutes for the first 100 kilometres of range or 15 minutes for a full charge.

More news as it comes but it sounds very exciting and we’ll follow the story as it develops.
