The new all electric Volvo XC40 has a 75 Kilowatt battery 408 hp and 660 newton meters of torque. It can accelerate from 0 to 100 kph (60 mph)  in 4.9 seconds and has a 400 km (249 miles) range under WLTP testing rules.

The battery charges up to 80% of its capacity in around 40 minutes on a fast charger.

Over the next five years, Volvo said, it will launch one full-electric vehicle every year and along the way will christen all electric Volvos with the ‘Recharge’ name.

Volvo CEO Hakan Samuelsson "We have said this several times before: For Volvo Cars, the future is electric,"

The new vehicle will benefit from Volvo’s relationship with Google that integrates Google Assistant, Google Play Store, Google Maps and other services.

Google Assistant will allow drivers and passengers to control vehicle temperature, set a destination, play their favourite music and dictate text messages.

The New Volvo is expected to be in the showrooms and for sale starting mid next year

The electric XC40 is the first Volvo to receive software and operating system updates over the air — a feature initiated by Tesla and one that is gradually spreading across the auto industry.
