Volkswagen

Volkswagen had its trousers pulled down, well and truly during and after the ‘dieselgate’ saga. Having endured a huge loss of face in 2015 that is still very much ongoing today WW decided the do the honourable thing and come clean ! They are now well on the way to becoming one of the leaders in e-mobility and have committed an eye watering 11 Billion Euros in development by 2023.

The first fully electric car from this investment will be launched at the end of 2019 with 20 other new models to follow in the nest few years. This car, presently called the ID. is a highly automated electric car that will cover a distance of 400 to 600 kilometres on a single battery charge. The production version of the ID. is due to be launched in 2020 at a price on a par with its more conventional sister ..the Golf of similar power and high spec equipment.

For Volkswagen, the world premiere of the iconic ID. in Paris - with its iconic, fresh design - marks a watershed. This car is as revolutionary as the Beetle was seven decades ago and the first Golf was 40 years ago - which went on to become two of the world's most successful cars of all time. The ID. has the potential to make history, too. It has been designed to be a compact all-rounder that will help to make electric cars the 'everyday' choice, with its impressive electric range and an attractive price

The Volkswagen ID. is the first model based on our new electric platform, the modular electric drive matrix (MEB).This new platform will allow Volkswagen to not only launch one or two models on the market, rather an entire family of electric models in swift succession. As an electrical counterpart to the Golf, the ID. is just the beginning. Not only is the aim that sedans, SUVs and vans like the ID. BUZZ will give Volkswagen a completely new image but VW want to attract completely new customers.
